The Pilipinx American Student Association (PASA) engages students at California State University East Bay in activities and programs that aid in enriching educational growth, enhancing Pilipinx cultural awareness, and providing opportunities for community service and leadership development. PASA builds lifelong camaraderie with its members, providing a solid foundation of support and guidance that will help them succeed throughout and after college.

In my position I want to accomplish the unfinished work of my predecessor, Mr. Jordan Buccat, had left. He was able to get in touched with our founder, Mr. Randy Sabado. PASA was founded in November of 1972. Within this time period, oppression and discrimination still existed towards Pilipinxs and other minorities. My co and I would want to uncover the missing pieces of how PASA came to be and put it in a timeline. We want to showcase how our organization had changed over the last 3 decades. My co and I will also put together PASA's very first Founders Day event to commemorate and show our appreciation towards our founders and their hardwork. Lastly, we want to create an amazing end of the year book that will show the journey of our new and old general members throughout the school year.

I didn't expect much when I came to PASA my freshmen year. I had a feeling that it was going to be just another Pilipino club but I was completely wrong. PASA has helped me tremendously throughout my college career. Within PASA, I have met some of the most wonderful and inspirational people in my life. For example; Ms. Megan Pineda, Ms. Norma Horario, Ms. Catherine Quesada, Ms. Ynez Adsuara and all of the other kuyas and ates had inspired me to love PASA and rekindled my love for Filipino culture. My PASA journey started at Friendship Games my freshmen year. Alongside Mr. Angelo Serano, we helped coordinate SPUF with SPUF Daddy himself, Mr. Romer Peñalosa. In that same moment, I was picked up by my amazing ate, Ms. Erin Guintu of Legendary Fam. My PASA family had seen me at my lowest and highest and I truly couldn't picture the rest of my life without them. Legendary Fam has helped me grow as a person and learn how to unconditionally care for someone. Towards the end of my freshmen year, I interned for PASA. COREisma was ran by none other than Ms. Megan Pineda of Ay Na Core. I learned so much more about myself and my ability to work alongside other people through PASA's internship program. My second year, I was still very involved with the organization. I went to Friendship Games again and I'm glad I did because 1st place baby! I thought my PASA journey was going to end until PCN season. My best friend, Ms. Kristen Ebreo, was one of the 2016 PCN directors and there was no way I wasn't going to do it. I went to audition and hoped that I would get a small part but instead, I was given a supporting role. Being on that stage had brought out something that I didn't knew I had which was the love for theater. My cast members made each rehearsal worth going. PCN was a journey of its own. After PCN, I thought that my journey of PASA was at an end but it wasn't. Nominations for 2016-2017 CORE had my heart set in staying with PASA when I received a majority of nominations for various positions. Fast forward to today, Mr. Christian Alcalde and I are your new PASA Hxstorian.

With the help of my co, I want us to be able to capture all the memories that happen throughout the year, whether it be through pictures or video. Because every day is special, I am going to make the effort to make sure nothing is left forgotten. Although the Hixtorian role may not seem as important as some of the other positions on CORE, I’m not going to limit myself to hiding behind a camera for the whole year. But not only that, I want to also help educate people about our culture, both past and present. In my eyes, there is a lot more to PASA than just our big events such as Friendship Games and PCN; we should all make the effort to “know our roots” and educate ourselves about the history that doesn’t get written in our textbooks.

I’ve never been good with introductions so I’m just going to tell you a little bit about the things that I like to do. First of all, I really like a lot of things that have to do with music, most notably playing the guitar and singing. Second, I’d say that when you first meet me, I’m most likely going to be weird and awkward but if you give me some time, I promise that I’ll be able to be myself around you which can be either a very good or bad thing. One last thing about me is that I love playing anything Nintendo related and watching random videos on the internet like every other person. As for PASA, I chose to become a part of this organization because of the whole family atmosphere. As cheesy as it sounds, I really do feel as if PASA is my home away from home because everybody is there for you in both the good times and the bad. PASA has taught me so much this past year and although I haven’t been around as long as other members, I am inspired to leave my own mark and contribute all that I have to offer toward this organization.
